Deadly attack targets tourists in India

Tuesday, we collected 50 events, including
a deadly terrorist attack that targeted

tourists in India, so let's get started.

At least 24 people were killed in a
shooting attack on tourists in the summer

retreat of Pahalgam, Indian-administered
Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.

The attack, described as the worst on
civilians in years, was condemned by

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who pledged
to bring the attackers to justice.

The victims were mostly Indian tourists,
and Indian politicians and officials

have widely condemned the attack.

The incident comes amid a backdrop
of insurgency in the region, where

rebels have been seeking independence
or a merger with Pakistan since 1989."

Security forces in Manipur have seized 22
explosives, including four metal IEDs and

18 plastic-bodied IEDs, during a joint
search operation in Tengnoupal district.

The operation also resulted in the
arrest of three active militants

from the People's Revolutionary
Party of Kangleipak–Progressive

faction (PREPAK (Pro))."

"Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso's military government
has claimed to have thwarted

a ""major plot"" to overthrow
junta leader Capt Ibrahim Traoré.

The alleged coup attempt, led by
current and former soldiers working with

""terrorist leaders"", aimed to attack
the presidential palace and place the

country under international supervision.

The plotters were believed to be based
in neighboring Ivory Coast, with security

Minister Mahamadou Sana naming two former
army officers as being behind the plan."

"Netherlands

Fourteen individuals, including
minors, were arrested in the

Netherlands on Tuesday in connection
with investigations into incitement

to terrorism through social media.

The suspects are accused of attempting
to encourage others to commit terrorist

acts, with some of the alleged
activity taking place on TikTok.

The arrests were coordinated by the
national office of the Public Prosecution

Service and involved multiple regional
police units, with authorities citing

the ongoing nature of the investigations
and the involvement of minors as reasons

for not releasing further information."

"Nigeria

Gunmen suspected to be cultists
attacked the Swali community in

Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State,
on Easter Sunday, killing at least

four people and injuring many others.

The attack has caused residents to
flee the area, and authorities have

been called in to restore order.

The Paramount Ruler of the Swali
Community has called on the state

government to increase security
measures, including setting up

police posts at strategic locations."

"Nigeria

The Nigerian Army's Joint Task
Force, Tudun Wada, has arrested

a 55-year-old suspected kidnapper
in Sumana village, Kano State.

The suspect was apprehended on April
20 and is currently in custody,

undergoing preliminary investigation.

The operation resulted in the
recovery of various items, including

a fabricated AK-47 rifle, ammunition,
and a motorcycle seat suspected to

be used for concealing weapons."

"Philippines

On Tuesday, seven bakery workers
were killed in a knife attack in

Antipolo City, Rizal province.

The incident occurred in the bread store
when a suspect stabbed his co-workers to

death who were asleep inside the store.

According to the reports, after
killing bakery workers, the

accused surrendered to the police."

"Syria

The remains of seven unidentified
individuals from Saraqib City in Idlib

countryside were discovered, with
evidence suggesting they were killed

by regime forces five years ago.

Their identities remain a mystery."

"Syria

Unidentified gunmen attacked a
General Security forces checkpoint

in Al-Muntar village, Tartus
countryside, early Tuesday morning.

The attackers fled the scene without
causing any reported casualties."

"Syria

ISIS cells launched four separate
attacks targeting SDF positions

in Deir Ezzor and Al-Hasakah, but
fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The attacks included an IED detonation
targeting an SDF military vehicle in

Al-Hawi area, gunmen throwing a sound bomb
and firing an RPG at an SDF checkpoint

in Zaiban town, and ISIS cells opening
fire with machine guns on an SDF vehicle

in Markada town, Al-Hasakah City."

"Syria

The Syrian regime has reportedly
arrested two senior officials from the

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror
organization: Khaled Khaled, in charge

of the Syrian arena, and Abu Ali Yasser,
responsible for the organization's

executive committee in Syria."

"Turkey

In a significant operation
in İzmir, Turkish authorities

arrested 13 individuals linked
to the terrorist group ISIS.

Among the suspects, 12 are Syrian
nationals, facing charges of

funding terrorism, spreading
propaganda, and contacting

conflict areas in Syria and Iraq.

A search for two other
suspects was underway."

"Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has
detained a 50-year-old unemployed local

man suspected of being a Russian spy.

He was part of a group of five
Russian agents, including Serhii

Lebediev (""Lokhmatyi""), who
were exposed in March 2025.

The suspect allegedly gathered information
on Ukrainian defenders by walking around

the city and extracting details from
acquaintances during casual conversations.

He faces up to 12 years in prison for
unauthorized dissemination of information

and illegal handling of ammunition."

"Bangladesh

Reports indicate that from Wednesday to
Thursday last week, uniformed and armed

members of the Arakan Army, an insurgent
group from Myanmar, crossed about 10

kilometers into Bangladeshi territory
in the Remakri Mukh area of Tindu union.

They held a water festival
in collaboration with local

indigenous communities.

The United League of Arakan (ULA),
the political arm of the Arakan

Army, reportedly participated in the
festivities with local residents.

The incident has raised significant
worries regarding Bangladesh's

border security and posed a ""serious
threat"" to the country's sovereignty,

prompting doubts about the government's
abilities, the Border Guard Bangladesh

(BGB), and the armed forces to
thwart such a blatant violation."

"Iran

The United States has issued new
sanctions targeting Iranian liquefied

petroleum gas magnate Seyed Asadoollah
Emamjomeh and his corporate network.

Emamjomeh's network is responsible
for shipping hundreds of millions

of dollars' worth of Iranian LPG
and crude oil to foreign markets,

generating revenue for Iran's nuclear
and conventional weapons programs, as

well as funding regional proxy groups."

"Myanmar

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance
Army (MNDAA) has handed over the

northern city of Lashio to the junta,
following a China-brokered agreement

to bring stability to the border.

The deal was part of a ceasefire
negotiated by China, which aimed to

reduce regional conflict and airstrikes.

The junta re-entered the city on Tuesday,
with residents reporting a large number

of soldiers arriving in the area."

"United States

China has announced sanctions on US
Congressmen, officials, and heads of

non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
for their ""egregious behavior""

on Hong Kong-related issues.

This move comes in response to the
US sanctioning six senior Chinese and

Hong Kong officials earlier this month,
citing ""transnational repression""

and erosion of Hong Kong's autonomy."

"Gaza Strip

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have
carried out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip,

destroying 40 construction vehicles
used by Hamas for terror activities.

The vehicles were used to breach
the Israeli border barrier,

plant bombs, dig tunnels, and
clear rubble to locate weaponry.

The IDF says the strike was aimed at
disrupting Hamas's heavy equipment

capability, while Hamas denounces
the strikes as a ""criminal"" act

that targets civilian equipment."

"Gaza Strip

Gaza's Hamas-controlled civil
defense agency claims seven people

were killed in Israeli airstrikes
across the territory, with casualties

reported in Gaza City, Beit Lahiya,
Beit Hanoun, and Khan Younis."

"Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have
confirmed that they killed a Hezbollah

commander in a drone strike in southern
Lebanon's al-Haniyya earlier today.

The commander was responsible for
Hezbollah's forces in Majdal Zoun.

Surveillance footage shows the IDF
striking a vehicle, with the target

escaping and being struck again."

"Lebanon

An Israeli airstrike targeted a vehicle
south of Beirut, killing Hassan Atwi, a

commander in the Al-Jama'a al-Islamiyya
organization, which is affiliated with

the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon.

The organization has been
involved in fighting against

Israel alongside Hezbollah."

"Myanmar

On Sunday, April 20, the Danu People's
Liberation Army (DPLA) accused the

junta of deploying chemical weapons
during its offensive near Taungkham

Village, located in Naungcho (Nawnghkio)
Township in southern Shan State.

At 1:00 p.m.,

junta aircraft released three bombs
filled with toxic chemicals, followed

by an additional four at 3:00 p.m.,

targeting Ta'ang National
Liberation Army (TNLA) and DPLA

forces around Tawngkham Village.

The DPLA stated that some of its
troops who were exposed to the chemical

weapons had suffered from dizziness,
vomiting, and a drop in blood pressure."

"Myanmar

Over the weekend, junta troops killed
at least three people and injured

seven others in raids on villages
in Magway Region's Salin Township.

The attacks included an artillery
strike that killed two people

and wounded four young girls.

The incident occurred despite
a reported ceasefire, with the

military junta controlling the area.

Regime forces launched the artillery
strike while advancing from Nwe

Ta Mei, a village close to Sin
Phyu Kyun, situated roughly two

miles northeast of Pan Taw Gyi.

The military junta controls this town."

"Pakistan

Five terrorists were killed in the
Razmak area of North Waziristan district.

A second operation in South Waziristan
neutralized a high-profile terrorist

ring leader, Zabi Ullah (alias Zakran),
who was involved in numerous attacks

targeting security personnel and
civilians, and was on the most-wanted

list of law enforcement agencies."

"Philippines

On Monday, April 21, the 12th Infantry
(Lick' Em) Battalion of the Philippine

Army, located in Calinog, Iloilo,
retrieved the remains of a member of

the Communist New People's Army (NPA) in
Sitio Bidang, Barangay Siya, Tapaz, Capiz.

The individual had died from complications
arising from an untreated illness."

"South Sudan

Heavy fighting has broken out at
a cantonment site belonging to

the Sudan People’s Liberation Army
in Opposition (SPLA-IO) in Morono

County, Central Equatoria state.

The SPLA-IO claims that the South
Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF)

launched a multi-directional attack on
the Panyume cantonment site, which has

been an SPLA-IO location since 2020."

"Sudan

Artillery attacks by the Rapid Support
Forces (RSF) on El Fasher, the capital

of North Darfur, have resulted in at
least 38 deaths and many more wounded.

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) claim
that the RSF has launched indiscriminate

artillery shelling, killing civilians
and damaging residential areas.

The conflict has led to a humanitarian
emergency, with at least three

million displaced civilians fleeing
westwards, overwhelming resources

in the Tawila and Jebel Marra areas.

The situation is complicated by
allegations of war crimes and the

destruction of civilian areas,
including the Zamzam camp, which

has been effectively obliterated."

"Taiwan

Taiwan tracked 11 Chinese military
aircraft, six naval vessels,

and four official ships around
its country between 6 a.m.

on Monday and 6 a.m.

on Tuesday.

Nine aircraft crossed the Taiwan
Strait median line in the country’s

northern, southwestern, and eastern
Air Defense Identification Zones."

"Ukraine

Ukrainian forces claimed to have
killed or wounded 1,130 Russian

soldiers over the past day.

Over 300 pieces of military equipment
were destroyed in the fighting."

"Ukraine

On April 21, a Russian drone attack
damaged 24 residential buildings and

three educational institutions in
Odesa, shattering at least 480 windows.

The attack also injured three people
and caused large fires in the city.

So far, 120 residents have
sought financial assistance

to repair their homes."

"Ukraine

Russian forces launched drone attacks
on the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts

of Dnipropetrovsk region overnight,
causing damage to power lines,

residential buildings, and vehicles.

Fortunately, no civilians were injured.

However, two Russian drones were
successfully destroyed by East Air

Command units over the region."

"Ukraine

A Russian drone attack on
Odesa caused large-scale fires.

Emergency crews responded to
the incident, but a previously

undetonated Shahed drone exploded,
fortunately without injuring anyone.

The attack damaged civilian
infrastructure, residential buildings,

an educational institution, and
vehicles, and injured three people."

"Ukraine

A Russian drone struck a hospital
in downtown Kherson, injuring six

people, including four funeral service
workers and two hospital staff.

The victims suffered blast and
shrapnel injuries, with ages

ranging from 19 to 64 years.

Additionally, a 48-year-old man was
wounded in a separate drone attack on

a vehicle in the Dniprovskyi district,
sustaining a shrapnel wound to the leg."

"Ukraine

Ukraine's Air Force Command reported
that 54 Russian drones and strike UAVs

were launched from various locations
in Russia and occupied Crimea.

38 drones were destroyed, while
16 decoy drones vanished from

radar without causing damage.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces
successfully repelled the aerial

assault using aircraft, anti-aircraft
missile units, electronic warfare

systems, and mobile fire groups."

"Ukraine

On Tuesday, Ukrainian forces shot down
38 Russian attack drones, and 31 decoy

drones failed to reach their targets.

The drones were launched from various
locations in Russia, including Kursk,

Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Additionally, Russian forces dropped
over 130 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian

territory, causing damage in the regions
of Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhzhia."

"Ukraine

A Russian attack in Zaporizhzhia
resulted in a fire, killing a 69-year-old

woman and wounding two others.

The victims were taken to the
hospital, and the consequences of

the attack are being established."

"Ukraine

A drone attack by the Russians
has caused significant damage to

civilian infrastructure in Odesa,
including residential buildings, an

educational institution, and vehicles.

Three people were injured
in the attack, with medical

personnel providing assistance.

Fires broke out in the densely populated
area, and emergency services are

working to contain the situation."

"Ukraine

On April 21, Russian forces launched
strikes on the Kupiansk and Bohodukhiv

districts of the Kharkiv region,
resulting in the death of a 24-year-old

man and injuring a 58-year-old woman.

Investigations have been launched into
war crimes, and prosecutors are working

to document the incidents despite
challenging security conditions."

"Ukraine

Over the past 24 hours, Russian attacks
have resulted in one fatality and

seven injuries in the Kherson region.

The attacks targeted multiple
settlements, with reports of shelling

and airstrikes in 35 locations.

A missile strike also damaged
infrastructure in Beryslav district,

causing damage to three apartment
buildings, eight private houses, a

gas pipeline, and an outbuilding."

"Ukraine

Russian forces launched 552
attacks at 12 settlements in the

Zaporizhzhia region over the past day.

The attacks included 11 airstrikes,
303 drone attacks, 29 missile

strikes, and 209 artillery strikes,
targeting various locations such as

Novoyakovlivka, Kamianske, and Huliaipole.

Despite the extensive attacks, there
were no reported civilian injuries,

but damage was reported to houses,
vehicles, and infrastructure facilities."

"Netherlands

On Monday evening and into the
night, several DDoS attacks targeted

the Dutch payment service provider
Adyen, located in Amsterdam.

These attacks interrupted debit card
transactions and checkout processes

for online retailers and physical
stores beyond the Netherlands.

Consequently, customers at shops,
restaurants, and online platforms

faced payment disruptions."

"Indonesia

Around 3,000 people attended a
protest outside the US embassy in

Jakarta, Indonesia, to express their
support for Gaza and condemn the

US's unlimited support for Israel.

The protesters called for an end to the
violence, a lift on the siege of Gaza,

and an end to the Israeli occupation.

They also urged the Indonesian government
to intensify diplomatic efforts on

behalf of the Palestinian people."

"India

On Tuesday afternoon, a small plane
crashed in the village of Uchharpi, in

Mehsana, Amreli, killing the pilot."

"Pakistan

A truck fell into a ravine in
southern Pakistan, resulting in at

least 13 fatalities and 20 injuries.

The accident occurred in the
Jamshoro district, Sindh province,

with some injured individuals
in critical condition."

"Syria

A child was killed in Al-Nusayriyah,
northern Hama countryside, after

being hit by shrapnel from a landmine
explosion in Al-Tlayseya Village."

"Syria

A child has died after being struck
by shrapnel from an exploded landmine

in the southern Idlib countryside,
specifically in the Al-Tamana'a

area near Om Jalal Village."

"Syria

A woman from Kafr Zytah town in Hama
countryside has died from injuries

sustained after being hit by shrapnel
from an unexploded war remnant in the

Al-Karamah camp in Idlib countryside."

"United States

On Monday, the Federal Aviation Authority
reported that a Delta passenger jet

carrying 282 passengers and 12 crewmembers
ignited on fire on the tarmac at Orlando

International Airport, necessitating
an emergency evacuation via slides.

Delta Air Lines Flight 1213, which
was heading to Atlanta, began to push

back from the gate around 11:15 a.m.

local time when one of its
engines caught fire, according

to a statement from the FAA.

There were no reports of injuries."

"United States

A Beechcraft Baron propeller plane
experienced a nose gear collapse

while landing at the Lawrence
Municipal Airport on Monday.

Fortunately, the pilot
on board was uninjured.

The Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) is investigating the incident and

plans to release a preliminary accident
report within the next couple of days."
